Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Grammarly, and other educational technologies, can be valuable learning resources when used responsibly. In this classroom, AI should support your learning—not replace it.

Acceptable Uses

Students may use AI tools to:

• Brainstorm ideas for assignments or projects.
• Generate study guides or practice questions.
• Clarify directions or explain difficult concepts.
• Check grammar, spelling, and sentence structure.
• Receive feedback on drafts before submitting their own work.

Unacceptable Uses

Students may not use AI to:

• Complete assignments or assessments without teacher permission.
• Submit AI-generated work as their own.
• Copy and paste AI responses without proper acknowledgment when required.
• Use AI during quizzes, tests, or other assessments unless specifically authorized.
• Generate inappropriate, harmful, or dishonest content.

Academic Integrity

Students are expected to complete their own work and demonstrate their own understanding. Any use of AI should align with classroom expectations and school academic integrity policies. Misrepresenting AI-generated work as original work may be considered academic dishonesty.

Privacy and Safety

Students should never enter personal, confidential, or identifying information into AI tools. This includes names, addresses, passwords, grades, medical information, or any other private information about themselves or others.

Teacher Expectations

If you are unsure whether AI is appropriate for an assignment, please ask before using it. My goal is to help you learn, think critically, and become an independent problem solver. AI can be a helpful assistant, but your creativity, ideas, and effort are what truly matter.
